Tap, tap, tap...is this thing on?
It's been, ummmm, a long time since my last post. Over two years, actually. My life is very different now than it was two years ago, and I just KNOW 2016 is going to be a zinger of a year (in a good way). But, more on that later.
For now, I'm going to give you the absolutely, positively, spank-guaranteed best gift you will have received in 2015. First, a little background info -
The boys have been out of school since December 17. So, I've been with them almost nonstop for almost two weeks. Things have been going well. But, after Christmas was over and our house guests left, we were all going a little stir-crazy. It's been chilly here, so we haven't been able to burn off much energy outside. Yesterday, I decided I'd take them to Jump Street (an indoor play place with huge trampolines, a foam pit, etc.). We arrived as it opened and it wasn't too crazy busy. I was watching the boys play dodgeball on a trampoline and saw a news reporter and cameraman approaching me out of the corner of my eye. The reporter said "Hi!" and I tried to ignore her and pretend she was talking to the dodgeball attendant, but nope, she was talking to me. She asked if she could interview me for a story they were doing on kids and New Year's Eve. I immediately started giggling and turning red in the face and politely declined. She was nice, but wouldn't take no for an answer. So, long story short, Beck and I were on the news yesterday.
Listen, people. It's Christmas break. I haven't left the house much for the past week. I didn't shower yesterday, and I hadn't *really* washed my hair since Sunday. I was wearing sweats, basically. But, how bad could it be? Turns out really, really bad. I was shockingly nervous and awkward. I was totally honest, which Paul advises was not the best strategy, and I came across slightly less put-together than I had hoped. Beck did awesome, though (yes, he needs a haircut, but I'm waiting for him to come around to that on his own).
The bright side is that I'm pretty sure not a single person saw it. It was on Channel 7 at 4:00 yesterday. We recorded it, of course. I still haven't been able to watch it without covering my eyes and yelping with embarrassment. I thought about sending the video to a few select friends and family tonight, after everyone (including me) had a few cocktails down. But, it's a new year. And one of the things I'm going to have to do in 2016 is *put myself out there* a little more.
So, here goes. My gift to you. Maybe it's not going to be as entertaining to you as I think it is, but...I think it is. I'm not big on resolutions, but I definitely hope to remove "like" from my vocabulary in 2016. I also plan to go back to blogging (probably on a new blog). And, damn girl, maybe slap on a little makeup before leaving the house. Or, at least wash my hair.

P.S. Cards Against Humanity should probably pay me for that plug.
P.P.S. Paul was SHOCKED that I told the universe we were probably going to play Cards Against Humanity tonight after the kids go to bed...but, HE'S the one who ordered two expansion packs from Amazon Prime on Tuesday and chose one day shipping.
P.P.P.S. I told Anne McNamara she couldn't "put that on the news" but she did anyway.
Cheers!
