15 Months

Beck will be 15 months in a few days. C-r-a-z-y. He's been sick with a pretty nasty cold and cough for the last week, and he's getting two more molars simultaneously. Instead of whining about all of that, though, I'll fill you in on the good stuff.

Signing...he's into it. Bird, ball, dog, hat, bath, thank you, all done, bed, light, more, eat, and drink. That's approximately the order he's learned them in, with bird being the most recent. Just this weekend, we were looking out the window, watching the squirrels and birds (something we do several times a day), and a flock of birds flew out of the tree. Beck put his little fingers up and signed "bird" with both hands. I love it!

Walking...he loves it. He'll only tolerate sitting in the stroller for so long. Then, he starts complaining and we pretty much need to let him out to explore. Luckily, there are two parks within tolerable strolling distance of our house.

The park...he's interested. He usually swings for a bit and goes down the slide a few times. Mostly, he likes to watch the other kids, and walk around. He also likes to pick up the litter, walk it over to the trash can, and throw it in.

Talking...not so much. He still babbles a lot. We think maaaybe he's said a few words - "ni ni" for night-night, "mo" for more, but it's a stretch. Perhaps the signing is slowing him down from talking, but we're not worried. He's definitely communicating with us.

Teeth...nine, with two more on the way. Which he WILL NOT let me brush. At best, I get one swipe at the top and one swipe at the bottom. No chance he's letting me clean those molars. The fact that this set is going to fall out doesn't really make me feel better, so I'll keep googling "how to get a 15 month old to let you brush his teeth" and see if anything works.

Sleeping, eating, nursing/weaning...these are the things that are on my mind most of the time, and I think there's a long blog post in my head, just waiting to get out. So, for now, I'll just say that he's sleeping and eating relatively well, and he's down to nursing once a day, at bed time.

So, that's Beck in a nutshell. I really can't believe how quickly he's growing up.
